Summary

• No account, no sign-up. Our apps require no registration and no personal details.

• Your measurements stay on your device. Sensor data you record is stored in your device's memory. We never receive it. It leaves your device only if you choose to export or share it.

• No advertising. We run no third-party ad networks, no ad SDKs, and no behavioral targeting. (Our apps do promote our own Pro upgrade, but not third-party advertising.)

• We never sell or share your data. We have never done so and will not.

• Limited anonymous, aggregate analytics. We collect app usage statistics and crash reports to fix bugs and improve the apps.

1. Who we are

Vieyra Software develops mobile applications that use smartphone and tablet sensors for science education, research, and professional use. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, Vieyra Software is the data controller for the processing described in this policy.

2. What our apps do and do not collect

Sensor measurements stay on your device

When you use our apps to record physical measurements, those measurements are written to your device's own storage and are never transmitted to us. We have no server that receives them, no database that stores them, and no ability to access them.

If you use an export or share feature, the resulting file goes wherever you send it, like email, cloud storage, or another app. At that point, it is governed by the privacy policy of whatever service you chose, not by ours.

​

No account and no directly identifying information

Our apps require no registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, photographs, contacts, or any credentials.

 

What we do receive

To fix bugs and understand which features are worth developing, our apps send limited technical and usage information to the third-party services listed in Section 3. This includes:

• Usage data (Which sensors modes are opened, session length, screens viewed, feature taps, wit the purpose of understanding which features are used, so we know what to improve)

• Device and app information (Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and region, with the purpose of reproducing bugs and deciding which devices and OS versions to support)

• Technical identifiers (An app instance identifier generated by Google Analytics for Firebase; a separate installation identifier generated by Crashlytics, with the purpose of distinguishing one installation from another so that usage counts and crash reports are meaningful

• Crash and performance data (Stack traces, app state at time of crash, memory and performance metrics, with the purpose of diagnosing and fixing crashes)

We cannot identify you from this data, and we hold nothing that would let us try. We operate no user accounts, no login, and no customer database. There is no record anywhere in our systems that connects an analytics identifier to a person's name, email address, or any other identifying detail, and we have no technical means of creating one. When we look at our analytics, we see counts and trends — not people.

​

What these identifiers do is distinguish one installation from another over time, so that a thousand sessions from one device aren't counted as a thousand users. That property is enough for them to be treated as personal data under the GDPR and as personal information under COPPA, even though we cannot attach a name to them. 

​

We do not receive your sensor measurements as part of any of this. Analytics tells us that you opened the Magnetometer mode. It does not tell us what you measured.

3. Third-party services we use

• Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) for usage events, device info, app instance ID, IP address. (United States: Firebase Privacy)

• Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) for crash reports, device state, installation UUID. (United States: Firebase Privacy)

• App Store / StoreKit (Apple Inc.) for purchase transactions (Apple Privacy Policy)

• Google Play Billing (Google LLC) for purchase transactions (Google Privacy Policy)

• Website hosting and mailing list (Wix.com Ltd.) for website analytics, mailing list subscriber details (United States/Israel/EU: Wix Privacy Policy)

• RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) for anonymous app user ID, device and operating-system information, purchase receipts or Google purchase tokens, transaction and entitlement status, and last-used time. (United States: RevenueCat Privacy Policy)

 

We have entered into data processing agreements with these providers. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, those transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses as incorporated into our providers' data processing terms.

4. Purchases

Some of our apps offer a paid upgrade. All purchases are processed by Apple or Google through their respective payment systems.

​

We never receive, see, or store your payment card number, billing address, or any other payment credential. We receive only confirmation from Apple or Google that a purchase was completed, so the app can unlock the purchased features. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies.

​

Our free apps display prompts inviting you to upgrade to a paid version. These promote our own products only. We do not display third-party advertising of any kind, and we have no advertising SDKs in our apps.

5. Our website

What we collect

If you voluntarily join our mailing list, respond to a survey, or contact us through the site, we collect:

• Your name

• Your email address

• Any other information you choose to include in your message

• Survey responses, where you give them

 

If you email us at support@vieyrasoftware.net, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we keep the correspondence so we can follow up.

 

Our website host, Wix, also collects standard server and analytics information about visits, including pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and referring site.

What we use it for

• Responding to your questions, bug reports, and feature requests

• Sending our newsletter, only if you subscribed

• Occasional surveys to improve our apps and lessons, only if you subscribed

• Understanding, in aggregate, which pages and lessons are useful

Unsubscribing

Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. You can also email support@vieyrasoftware.net and we'll remove you.

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Specifically:

• Essential and analytics cookies, set by Wix, which keep the site functioning and secure. 

• Third-party cookies from embedded video. Our Tutorial page embeds videos hosted on YouTube.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not permit any third party to use cookies on our site for advertising.

7. Your rights by region

Because our apps require no account and collect nothing that identifies you, we are not in a position to identify you from app data. If you ask us for a copy of "your" analytics data, or ask us to delete it, we have no way of knowing which records are yours, as there is no name, email, or account to search on.

​

Under Article 11 of the GDPR, where a controller can demonstrate it is not in a position to identify the data subject, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection (Articles 15 to 20) do not apply, unless you can provide additional information that enables us to identify your records. 

​

• Analytics and crash data: We cannot locate or delete an individual's records, because we cannot tell which they are. 

• Sensor measurements: These are on your device and under your control. Deleting them is something you do directly, and we could not do it for you even if asked.

• Email, newsletter, and support correspondence: If you contact us, we can identify you by your email address, and all the rights below apply in full.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

You have the right to access your data, to rectify inaccurate data, to erase data, to restrict processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Our legal bases for processing are:

• Responding to support requests (Legitimate interests — answering people who contact us

• Newsletter (Consent, which you may withdraw at any time)

• Complying with legal obligations (Legal obligation)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EEA, the authority for your country of residence.

California (CCPA / CPRA)

In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Sections 2 and 6: identifiers (technical identifiers, IP address, and email address if you contacted us), internet and application activity, and inferences we draw in aggregate about feature popularity. We collect these directly from your use of our apps and website and from our analytics providers. We disclose them only to the service providers listed in Section 3, for the business purposes stated there.

We have never sold or shared personal information, as those terms are defined by the CCPA and CPRA, and we do not do so now. This includes not sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not collect sensitive personal information.

Brazil (LGPD)

You have rights of confirmation, access, correction, anonymization or deletion, portability, information about data sharing, and revocation of consent. Contact us at support@vieyrasoftware.net.

Canada (PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25)

You have the right to access and correct your personal information and to withdraw consent. Quebec residents additionally have rights to data portability and to be informed of automated decision-making. We make no automated decisions about individuals.

Switzerland (nFADP)

You have rights of access, rectification, deletion, and objection equivalent to those described above.

8. Security and breach notification

Our website and mailing list are hosted by Wix on secured servers. If a breach occurs affecting personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant supervisory authorities as required by law — within 72 hours of becoming aware, where GDPR applies.

9. What we don't do

• We do not sell, rent, or lease personal information to anyone.

• We do not display third-party advertising in our apps or on our website.

• We do not use behavioural targeting, retargeting, or advertising profiles.

• We do not access, receive, or store your sensor measurements.

• We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

• We do not use your data, or students' data, to train machine learning or artificial intelligence models.

• We do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

• We do not require an account, and we do not ask for information we don't need.

10. Links to other websites

Our website and apps contain links to other sites, including app stores, YouTube, lesson resources, and research publications. Once you follow a link away from our site, we have no control over that destination and are not responsible for its content or privacy practices.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps change or as legal requirements evolve.

When we make a material change, such as anything affecting what we collect, why, or who we share it with, we will update the "Last updated" date, record the change in the revision history below, and give notice through our newsletter and a notice on this page before the change takes effect. We will not reduce your rights under this policy retroactively without your consent.
